Following her comments defending blackface earlier this week, NBC's Megyn Kelly has stepped away from her morning show and may not return, some sources say.

Megyn Kelly's exit from the show is not official either, but an insider told HollywoodLife that they did fire her after arguing that blackface should be Okay as long as it's for a Halloween costume.

"If Megyn Kelly had been getting great ratings I imagine NBC would stand by her".

She was absent Thursday morning, as NBC chose to air a rerun of her program, a telling sign for her future at the network.

On Wednesday it was reported that Kelly had fired her agent at Creative Artists Agency after rumours circulated that she might be moving on from her NBC daytime show. There was plenty of hype around "Megyn Kelly Today" when it debuted in September 2017. Kelly asked on her show. At this point, it's likely that Kelly's tenure will be remembered for her spectacular misses rather than her well-meaning hits (of which there weren't many). According to Deadline, Kelly had been planning to leave CAA for UTA before this week's controversy, but after Tuesday, UTA is no longer interested in bringing her on.

The network reportedly told Megan Kelly Today staffers not to worry about their jobs on Wednesday.

Kelly has reportedly hired top Hollywood talent litigator Bryan Freedman, leading to speculation that she is gearing up for a legal battle with NBC. In 2015, Dr. Kendall spoke to the Daily Mail Online and denied ever being unfaithful to his ex-wife. She apologized for her comments on the following day's broadcast, but was absent from the show today, October 25.

Kelly, a former Fox News star, got into hot water Tuesday on her talk show program when she stood up for reality TV star Luann de Lesseps darkening her skin to look like Diana Ross. She is in the middle of the second year of a three year contract.

Kelly's lawyer Brian Friedman will meet with NBC brass and has requested that Farrow - who left NBC News past year after the network declined to run his expose on Harvey Weinstein - be present. "Well, I was wrong and I am sorry", she said.

"I have never been a PC kind of person, but I do understand the value of being sensitive to our history, particularly on race and ethnicity", she said.

In an effort to convey a sunnier persona, Kelly danced awkwardly on the air with a "Today" show colleague, Hoda Kotb, to a Pitbull song.
