Eight days after spearheading United's turnaround at Chelsea, 22-year-old Martial starred again with an influential performance in the 2-1 win over Everton. And it appears that Jose Mourinho's team has been leaked ahead of kick-off.

Having met United manager Jose Mourinho and first-team stars on Saturday, they were guests of honour as the Red Devils faced Everton in the Premier League. That poor run is in sharp contrast to his form at the same stage last campaign, when he had already netted 11 times.

"He possesses everything - pace, power, a super technique as we've seen in the last few weeks of scoring goals."

"The penalty had a big impact in the match and we did not deserve this result", said Marco Silva.

We have no idea what he was thinking giving away a needless penalty away. It was good for us and good for me.

His combination with Martial on the left is a real plus point for the Red Devils going forward, but Pogba's love for the dramatic remains a negative on his game.

Pogba had a spotkick saved by Jordan Pickford on Sunday before netting the rebound.

Manchester United entered the game against Everton under pressure to win after they were outclassed at Old Trafford on Tuesday night by Juventus.

The youngster missed a one-on-one in the second half after being sent through by Mata and was finally put out of his misery in the 64th minute as Lukaku was brought into the game for the man brought in to replace him, not doing particularly better though as he too, spurned a clear header to seal the game for United.

As has become his trademark, Pogba began his "run-up" from just outside the area and trotted towards the penalty spot. The rapid pace of the game seemed to inhibit the Serbian's natural game and he was often bypassed by the likes of Sigurdsson and Richarlison.

Three minutes into the second half, United doubled their lead as Martial curled a sumptious shot into the far corner on a pass from Pogba that gave Pickford no chance.

Everton were then gifted a way back into proceedings with 13 minutes remaining after Pogba gave away possession as stupidly as the sliding challenge that followed from Smalling on Richarlison inside the box.

De Gea couldn't do much to stop Gylfi Sigurdsson's penalty but had a decent outing in between the sticks.

A fine run by Gomes saw him feed Coleman and then get on the end of the cross, but as with earlier headers, his effort had neither enough power or direction to overly trouble De Gea.

Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata led United's attack-line, with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic controlling the midfield.
