Turns out we've all been living a lie, and Teigen has probably put up with years of last-name butchering like the saint she is.
"Gave up a long time ago", Chrissy said on Twitter. She said it's not pronounced "TEE-gen", but rather "TIE-gen".
The social media queen and model posted a video late Sunday to confirm that both she and her fans have been mispronouncing her last name.
Chrissy Teigen isn't the only star whose name is constantly mispronounced.
"I know. I even correct people when they say it correctly.it's all v effed up", she added.
"You know how innocent you have to be to allow a world to pronounce your last name wrong your whole life and just go along with it?" they wrote.
After that revelation and before signing off, John Legend's wife also shared a video of a large bruise on her right leg. She tweeted that people are saying her name wrong.
I, too, have been unknowingly butchering the pronunciation of Teigen for years.
Clearly, the mispronunciation has taken its toll on her. "My brother [Frankie Grande] kind of change it to [Granday] because [Grandee] was kind of like the Americanized version of it", she explained.
