An investigation was launched after the barefoot woman was spotted on surveillance video repeatedly ringing a doorbell in the middle of the night in a small subdivision in Montgomery County, Texas.
Deputies told Houston TV station KTRK, a man was threatening to commit suicide.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, a resident of Sunrise Ranch in Montgomery, Texas was awakened on August 24 at 3:20 a.m. local time by their doorbell.
A more recent report in Reuters on Tuesday afternoon shows that while police have solicited public help in identifying the woman, had canvassed the area, and are reviewing surveillance footage from the area, they have had no success shedding light on the incident. They did not confirm why she was ringing the doorbells. However, by the time the resident awakens and opens the door, the woman has vanished.
Some witnesses say the woman appeared to be pregnant.

The death is believed to be suicide, police said.
