Before Who Is America? even aired the former Alaska governor told the press that Cohen had dressed up as a disabled veteran in a wheelchair and tried to interview her for what she was told was a "legit Showtime historical documentary".
Simpson was unaware he was being interviewed by the comedian, according to Entertainment Weekly, and instead believed he was sitting down with Gio Monaldo, a playboy and fashion photographer. Simpson was charged in 1994 with murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, but was found not guilty the following year.

After the girlfriend leaves the room and Simpson calls her "gorgeous", Cohen makes a series of jokes about killing her in an attempt to get Simpson to agree with him.
"She's gorgeous, but sometimes I want to kill her", Gio said, per THR's recap.
Cohen's character then proceeded to give Simpson a high-five.
A preview clip shows Cohen, in character, trying to get a confession out of Simpson.
"Hey, hey, hey, I didn't get away with nothing", Simpson replied emphatically.
"Me and you, we got something in common", Baron Cohen said.
"What, you didn't kill him too, did you?" Simpson immediately denied the accusation, saying, "No, I didn't kill nobody."The whole bit appeared to be filmed without Simpson's knowledge". At one point during the interview, Cohen's character told Simpson he had a wealthy business partner who would pay to hear about what really happened with "the wife".
Cohen also referred to himself and Simpson as "lady killers".
