And that, she said, is more evidence of how Trump treats black people. Manigault Newman alleges in her book that Trump's campaign offered her a $15,000 per month payment in exchange for signing a binding document saying she wouldn't disclose information the President or his agents deemed confidential.
That revelation sparked a stream of presidential invective on Twitter.
A former contestant on his TV show "The Apprentice", Manigault Newman joined the campaign and became an assistant to the president, earning $179,000 a year as director of communications for the White House office of public liaison.
Manigault Newman also likened the president to a dog, writing that she saw him behave "like a dog off the leash" at a number of events he attended without Melania. And she went so far as to try to go after me.
Sometimes this White House just comes out and says it.
"Omarosa? Omarosa, what's going on? What happened?" he said, apparently unaware she had already been fired.
That is a reference to Trump's White House chief of staff, retired general John Kelly, who sacked Manigault Newman in December 2017 in a conversation she viewed as a "threat".
"[White House Chief of Staff] Gen. [John] Kelly, Gen. Kelly came to me and said that you guys wanted me to leave", she replies in the recorded message.
"I loved him [talking to her] on the phone". The former aide is promoting a new book, Unhinged.
"First of all, he is known to be an entertainer, to exaggerate", she said. "Is she going to a garden wedding right after?", another viewer tweeted while one person gave her the advice, "#1 turn your attitude down a notch or two. The issues were related to her use of government vehicles and "money issues and other things", Kelly can be heard saying. Nasty to people & would constantly miss meetings & work.
She refused, and Kelly was forced to fire her, unnamed White House aides told Politico.
".@MarkBurnettTV called to say that there are NO TAPES of the Apprentice where I used such a awful and disgusting word as attributed by Wacky and Deranged Omarosa", Trump tweeted Monday night, referring to the TV producer who created the reality TV show. "I never expected him to lie to the country".
President Donald Trump speaks before signing a $716 billion defense policy bill named for Sen. I would rarely see her but heard. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Quite a story to tell as the only African American woman in this White House. "He doesn't know how to control himself".
Late last night, Trump called Omarosa "wacky' and "deranged" when he tweeted his thoughts on her march through the various programs of NBC News to plug her book".
