The New York Times reported that it had seen documents saying that a settlement was reached in April of this year, and that "Three people familiar with the case said the documents were authentic".
Through his attorneys, Bennett reportedly sent a letter of intent to sue Argento in November 2017, a month after she contributed to an explosive New Yorker report detailing numerous allegations of sexual assault against mega-producer Harvey Weinstein.
Bennett's lawyer was seeking such a huge figure because they claimed that their client was so traumatized by it all that it had a negative impact on his acting career and earnings. "She then asked him to take a number of photos".
The newspaper said it received court documents that included a selfie of Argento and the actor in bed. "We are not going to allow you to get away with it". Argento and Bennett appeared together in the 2004 film, The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things.
Shortly after those revelations broke in October past year, in November, Bennett's lawyers sent a notice of intent to sue to Richard Hofstetter, lawyer for the late Anthony Bourdain, who was also representing Argento at the time.
Mr. Bennett's notice of intent asked for $3.5 million in damages for the intentional infliction of emotional distress, lost wages, assault and battery.
She then plied him with alcohol and sexually assaulted him, it's alleged in the filing. He denies all charges of non-consensual sex.
Asia faced heartache in June when her boyfriend of a year and a half Anthony Bourdain took his own life.
