The "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin died on August 16, at the age of 76, as the Inquisitr reported, leaving behind a legacy of 45 Top 40 hit songs among the hundreds that she recorded, according to History of Recording.
The two-day public event precedes her funeral on Friday, but fans will have lasting memories of her one of her final looks.
But those who knew her personally-like the man trusted with preparing her body for home-going services this week-said she was anything but a diva in private.
Franklin is considered royalty in her MI hometown. Thank you for thinking of me.
"During the '70s, anything she made during that time, we were just dancing to and enjoying it", amusing said.
"As a teacher, as a woman, multi-talented artist I aspire, inspired, want to be like her", Jones said. She couldn't be closer to the truth; women have longed to follow in the powerful footsteps of Franklin for decades, looking up to both her vocals and her entire being.
"Last week we lost an irreplaceable force", Swift said. The 57-year-old Detroiter says, "I wanted to see her again".
Taylor Swift offered Aretha Franklin some R-E-S-P-E-C-T on Tuesday night in Detroit.
"We are very appreciative to receive the support of The Word Network in ensuring that the ENTIRE celebration of life service for Ms. Aretha Franklin will be aired uninterrupted", Bishop Charles Ellis III of the Greater Grace Temple said in a statement released Wednesday.
Franklin was one of the best-selling recording artists of all time. I said, yes, I am.
Swift asked for a moment of silence, "so every single one of us could reflect on our love and respect for her". Many wore T-shirts with her image, or clutched photos or her favorite flower, a rose.
The funeral will cap a week of remembrances for Franklin.
