While he didn't divulge too many details about the situation, Showbiz 411 founder Roger Friedman wrote on Sunday evening that Franklin, 76, is now surrounded by family and other loved ones, who have asked for prayers and privacy for the legendary singer.
The singer, 76, is "gravely ill in Detroit", Roger Friedman reported on his Showbiz411 website. Most recently, doctor's orders prevented her from performing at the New Orleans Jazz Fest in March.
Franklin, who last performed in public in November 2017 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation's 25th anniversary gala, has struggled with health issues in recent years.
Aretha is surrounded by family and people close to her. Her mother died before her 10th birthday and not long after, Franklin started singing in her first solo shows. I will be recording, but this will be my a year ago in concert.
