The family of Renard Matthews wanted to remember him as he lived, honoring his memory in an unusual way at his wake.
His life was taken away from him at the age of 18-years-old after a shooting on June 26th. WDSU-TV reports his body was positioned in a chair and he had a video game controller in his lap. A big fan of the Boston Celtics and Kyrie Irving, he was dressed in an Irving jersey with the Celtics on a TV screen. He wore a Kyrie Irving Boston Celtics jersey, sunglasses and a pair of Irving's socks.
The body of a dead teenager, Renard Matthews, was dressed and propped up in a chair while surrounded by his favourite snacks for a freakish memorial service held by his family. His favorite snacks, cereal, Barq's Root Beer and Doritos were placed on a side table next to him.
At the Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home in Treme, his family showed the world the things Matthews love the most.
Family and friends gathered for Sunday's wake.
