Rolling Thunder will be at the Navy Memorial on Saturday, May 26th to host an annual wreath laying ceremony in conjunction with the Rolling Thunder Run. Event will feature free barbecue lunch, displays of military equipment, go-karts and children's activities, raffle, auto show and chance to send video message to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The parade route will be from Monroe Avenue and Lyon Street and ending at Veterans Memorial Park on Fulton Street and Sheldon Boulevard.
"The memorial service usually lasts a little over an hour, and some people bring camping chairs to watch from", Chris Fuller, adjutant finance officer for the Sons of the American Legion Post 122, said.
On Memorial Day, all active duty military and veterans will also be able to eat for free from 11 a.m.to 11:30 p.m.at Hooters, 2660 JBS Parkway. The first ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m.at Overacker Cemetery.

Richmond Heights - Ceremony, Monday, 10 a.m.at Richmond Heights Community Park Veteran's Memorial, 26789 Highland Road where Col. Carl Carter will speak.
"The ceremony is for veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country", said Jerry Johnson, master of ceremonies of the Baytown event. Singing, prayer, speakers and dedication of new pavers for Veterans Memorial. Everyone is asked to help place miniature American flags on the graves at the conclusion of the program.
Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8426 S. US 287, Fort Collins, will sponsor Memorial Day events on Sunday and Monday, May 27-28. Also supporting the event are members of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 391, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3154 and VFW Post 3154 Ladies Auxiliary.
The parade starts this year on Pennsylvania Avenue and ends on Church Street at the Westminster Cemetery. Keynote espeaker will be writer Dave Gathman, a former reporter for The Courier-News, who will talk about the war and Elgin's involvement in it. At 10 a.m., the ceremony begins and includes guest speakers U.S. Rep. Walter B. Jones and James E. Prosser, assistant secretary for Veterans Affairs in Raleigh. Memorial Day wreaths will be presented.
Berea's National Rib Cook-Off will be at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds all weekend: noon to 11 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m.to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 11 a.m.to 7 p.m. Monday. The Metro Customer Service Center will be open from 8 a.m.to 4:30 p.m.at 266-4466.
The Bullock Building will be hosting public displays of history by re-enactors of the Living History Association throughout the weekend, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Parade steps off at 9 a.m. from Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 20820 Lorain Road and will march to the Fairview Park Cemetery. Music provided by the Altamont Community High School Band.
The main program will begin at 11 a.m. and will feature traditional Memorial Day music, the presentation of honor quilts to veterans, and the keynote speech by Greenfield resident Otis Wagner.

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, the rows of headstones that mark the final resting place of over 400,000 USA service members should stand as reminders-as should all grave markers at each of our country's 135 national cemeteries-for us to take a moment to set aside our political caterwauling and focus on the objective of the solemn holiday: to honor the men and women who died in battle while serving in the USA military.
