An Indiana officer was killed Friday evening in an exchange of gunfire between police and a homicide suspect, who barricaded himself inside an apartment complex and later died from injuries sustained during the shootout, authorities said.
A western IN police officer has been fatally shot, and officers have surrounded an apartment complex where they believe the suspect remains at large.
Adamson says for those that would like to pay their respects, Officer Pitts will be moved from Regional Hospital to DeBaun Funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say the suspect's name in known to police, but they have not released it.
The suspect has not been arrested.
State police will be handling the investigation into the officer's death, Watts said in a tweet around 8:30 p.m.
