Philadelphia's Ben Simmons recorded his 12th triple-double of the season with 27 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists.
It really was a sight to behold.
James said the Sixers jumped on Cleveland early in running to that 30-point lead, which was cut to 23 by halftime.
For his part, Simmons dropped nine points, eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals in just his first 13 minutes of action.
Cleveland now sit just a half-game above Philadelphia heading into the match with the regular season ending next week.
The 76ers of the past and present sure loved LeBron - but is that appreciation enough to make him a Sixer in the future?
But for the 76ers they are in uncharted territory having not finished fourth or higher in the Eastern Conference since Allen Iverson was lacing up for Philadelphia in 2003.
JJ Redick poured in 28 points and the Sixers' bench outscored the Cavaliers bench 56-25 on the back of 23 from Marco Belinelli and a had his best game as a 17-point, 11 rebound double double from Ersan Ilyasova. James could have tied the game with 1.9 seconds left.
The 21-year-old Melbourne-born Rookie of the Year favourite said he was chasing James' mantle as the best player in the world.
James started yapping at the refs, the crowd howled as he complained, and the arena felt like a Game 7. Inbounding with 3.3 seconds left, James got off a 3-point shot off a great inbounds pass that traveled two-thirds of the way downcourt, and Robert Covington fouled him as he released the shot with 1.9 seconds left.
The Sixers, who already clinched their first playoff berth since 2012, won for the fifth straight game without Embiid. This would have been considered a successful season if the Sixers just made the postseason, but that's no longer the case.
LeBron James has been playing out of his mind as of late, as the Cavs don't have a ton of things to worry about if LeBron is playing well.

The 76ers stormed out to a 30-point lead in the first half and had 78 points by intermission before LeBron James heated up. Fans booed whenever he touched the ball.
Luckily for them, the Sixers finally caught up on offense.
"You add in Villanova, you add in the Eagles, obviously that helps as well", James said. But before the 76ers could even think, "We did this without Joel Embiid", the Cavaliers roared back to win the second half, 75-54.
"Coming on a back-to-back, we just weren't ready for the speed, the way they played", Lue said.
