"We can not thank Jordy enough for all that he has given the Green Bay Packers and our community for the past 10 years", general manager Brian Gutekunst said in a release.
Another big name National Football League player has found a new home today as free agent tight end Jimmy Graham is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Green Bay Packers. First, they are signing tight end Jimmy Graham, but that's not all! The 31-year-old is coming off a very strong 2017 season in which he caught 57 passes for 10 touchdowns. Nelson was selected to the Pro Bowl and named second-team All-Pro by The Associated Press for his performance during the 2014 season in which he set career highs in receptions (98) and receiving yards (franchise-record 1,519) while also hauling in 13 touchdowns. That earned the reliable veteran 2016 NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors. But that's because Rodgers would miss half the season. In each of those campaigns, Nelson racked up at least 85 catches. That said, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has to be giddy at the prospect of finding Graham in the end zone. The Packers are still pretty loaded at the wide receiver position with Randall Cobb, Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison - to name a few.
Meanwhile, the resilient Nelson should have no issues finding a new home sooner than later.
