Apple is said to have plans to introduce three new iPhones this year, including a phablet sized iPhone X successor and a much smaller budget option.
Gene Munster, co-founder of Loup Ventures and Apple's close watcher said, "This is a big deal".
The craze of the big screen smartphones have gone down in past few years however experts believe that the new phones could revive the screen size wars amongst the companies. Apple only sells the premium flagship in Silver and Space Gray, while the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus both have Gold in addition to the other two colors.
With the iPhone X past year, Apple finally introduced an all new design language for the iPhone with minimal bezels and an edge-to-edge display. It is not clear whether this big iPhone will also affect the sales of lower end iPad models.
The iPhone X is also set to get an upgrade come this fall, according to the report. Apple planned on having a golden iPhone X but abandoned the idea due to production issues. These rumors fit previous leaks that claimed the device would have a 6.5 inch screen, making it the largest phone out of all the competitors on the market.
The large screen iPhone X is expected to become a hit primarily with business customers who need extra screen real estate for handling spreadsheets, and do multitasking on the go. Furthermore, the brand will also make use of the OLED screen for its largest iPhone, which is tipped to be similar to iPhone X.
Bloomberg has just published some information today about the Apple plans for 2018, future iPhone smartphones, which will be most probably presented by Apple in September, as it tradition says.
To keep costs down, the cheaper phone will use LCD screen technology similar to the type employed in the iPhone 8.
"Peace" is expected to feature updated AR technology, deeper integration of Apple's Siri voice assistant, more health monitoring and the ability to use Animojis in FaceTime, Bloomberg noted. Consumers quickly discovered that for a mere $100 more they could buy a 5s, which had an aluminum body, a slow-motion video camera and a fingerprint scanner. However as Apple enters the mature phase, it needs more products to support its growth, and possibly with three phones, the company is looking to continue that growth.
