Speaking to a news conference, the detective from the LA County Sheriff's Department said they had spoken to "a lot of new people" since the case had been reopened, including some who said they heard the couple arguing the night of Wood's death.
Wood who was 43 and said to have had a lifelong fear of drowning and dark water, was found dressed for bed in a long nightgown and socks, but wearing a red down jacket over her nightclothes. Wagner said several years ago that Wood went out and "slipped on the swing step and hit her head".
The result remains the same as it was in 1981 and in 2011: Investigators still think the death is "suspicious" (but not a murder case yet) and Wagner is still a "person of interest".
Wood was on board the Splendour with Wagner, Christopher Walken, who was her co-star in the film "Brainstorm", after having dinner at a restaurant on Catalina Island.
Natalie Wood was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood up until her controversial death.
Corina did not explain why anyone who might know something didn't come forward in 1981 or in 2011, and whether that failure might undermine their credibility all these decades later.
Wood's body was found floating in a Santa Catalina Island cove on the morning of November 29, 1981, after a night of dining and drinking on the island and on a yacht with her husband Wagner, fellow actor Christopher Walken, and the boat's captain.
Before becoming the subject of a Hollywood mystery, Natalie Wood was considered one of the most attractive and talented women in the world. Witnesses have said they heard Wood and Wagner arguing the night she went missing.
Time has been the largest obstacle in the probe and the original investigator and numerous witnesses have died, Corina said. "People wanted to get involved and tell us what they knew", Corina said. "I tried to talk to him past year and he looked me in the eye and said that he's cooperated with the police and he spoke with them".
"I haven't seen him tell the details that match all the other witnesses in this case", he says of Wagner. In 2012, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office amended the death certificate, changing the manner of death from an accidental drowning to "drowning and other undetermined factors".
Corina also confirmed Wood's body had bruises.
"Do we have enough to make an arrest at this moment?"
"Mr. Wagner has fully cooperated over the last 30 years in the investigation of the accidental drowning of his wife in 1981", Berk said at the time.
Why Has the Case Been Reopened? Wagner also allegedly refused to turn on the boat's searchlights when Davern made the suggestion.
He claimed that Wagner's story has changed over the years, and said that Wagner did not immediately attempt to look for her once he determined that she was not on the boat.
