China's Xinhua news agency reported that Egypt has made a decision to open the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip for four days, the Palestinian embassy in Cairo said in a statement Tuesday.
"We will hunt down those responsible for yesterday's incident", Lieberman said on Sunday, adding that Hamas was "ultimately responsible" for what happens in Gaza.
The incident was the most serious to take place on the southern border since Operation Protective Edge in 2014.
On the same day, 23 Palestinians were wounded by Israeli live bullets. -Gen. Ronen Manelis said.
A Qatari envoy said Monday that both Israel and Gaza militants want to contain cross-border violence that has flared in recent days, as he detailed a new emergency fund to aid the blockaded territory.
Another Israeli expert, Yukhai Ofer, predicted that the Saturday clashes could prompt the Israeli army to "change its approach" against Palestinian protests near the border fence.
Israeli "fighter jets targeted underground infrastructure in the southern Gaza Strip, in response to the projectile that was launched at Israel earlier", an army statement said.
Since the 6 December announcement, 26 Palestinians have been killed, and two Israelis in cross-border exchanges and clashes with Israeli troops across the West Bank and along the Gaza border. Two military compounds belonging to the terror group were hit, one of which included a weapons manufacturing site.
No injuries were reported from the rocket fire or Israeli retaliation.
