A third party liquidator, Hilco Merchant Resources, will manage store closing sales beginning Thursday.
With previously announced closings, the York-based retailer will now be shuttering 47 of its 260 stores in early 2018.
The list includes multiple brands operated by Bon-Ton: Bergner's, Bon-Ton, Boston Store, Carson's, Elder-Beerman, Herberger's and Younkers.
In November, the company announced it would be closing the Bon-Ton Store at the St. Lawrence Centre Mall in Massena.
The closures are the next step in efforts by Bon-Ton Stores to move forward with a more productive store footprint, Bill Tracy, president and chief executive officer, said in a news release. The plan described a group of 45 stores with weak financial performance or locations in "dying malls". The sale will run for 10 to 12 weeks.
The Fox River Mall store location first opened as H.C.Prange's in 1986.

Bon-Ton shoppers in Berks County can breathe a sigh of relief.
The store is the only one in New Jersey affected in the announcement.
"I like it better than Kohl's", said Pataki, who likes the department store's shoe selection and recently bought a pair of boots there. The plan stated the portfolio of Bon-Ton stores "contains a sizable portion of poorly performing stores that contribute minimal value to the organization".
The women said they believe closing doesn't bode well for the mall.
