The 17-year-old is however yet to start a Premier League for the defending champions, but his stupendous performances in the Carabao Cup has prompted Sunderland to seek for his signature before the window closes.

This season the youngster has spent the first half of the campaign at Stamford Bridge.
Clarke-Salter was also part of the U20 World Cup squad with England in June and has since been promoted to the U21 set-up.
Sunderland will hope to have Clarke-Salter signed for their next match against Cardiff City.
Clarke-Salter has been at Chelsea since the age of eight and has won multiple FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League medals with the Blues.
