The five-word proclamation appeared as a projection above the entryway at Washington, D.C.'s Trump International Hotel on Saturday night. Also projected on the building were things like "pay Trump bribes here".
The video was shared on Twitter by Robin Bell, who describes himself as an "editor, video journalist, and multimedia artist" who is based in Washington DC. He tells CNN the projection was up for less than an hour.
After lawmakers raised the issue of protections for immigrants from African nations, Haiti and El Salvador, the president reportedly demanded to know why the USA should accept immigrants from "shithole countries", rather than - for instance - wealthy and overwhelmingly white Norway.
"The president distracts us from politics that are harming us", Bell added in his expletive-laden protest projection.

Trump apparently told the lawmakers that the United States should instead take in more people from countries like Norway, the report further said.
Democrats and some Republicans have also expressed disappointment over the president's statement.
"Perhaps the Trump brand could take some lessons from Norway, where they have the BEST hotels".
"You can not dismiss entire countries and continents as 's***holes, ' whose entire populations, who are not white, are therefore not welcome".
