Trebek was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on 15 December (17) after experiencing complications from hitting his head in a fall in October.
"Surgery was performed", he said "After two days in the hospital I came home and started recovery". His prognosis, he said, is "excellent" and he will be back to tape "Jeopardy!".
In a video message, Trebek thanked fans for their concern as word of his surgery spread. Like many other syndicated game shows, Jeopardy! is shot months prior to its air date, because of which, its broadcast schedule will remain unaffected.
According to Deadline, production on the show will only be slightly affected - the upcoming College Championship will film in March instead of this month.
The following year, he suffered a mild heart attack.
Trebek is set to return to taping "Jeopardy" in mid-January.
