Last year, Apple said December 2016 was the App Store's biggest month ever, bringing in $3 billion in revenue; this year, it doesn't seem to have broken out the monthly data for December (though we've asked for it).

"We've always been proud to be a Canadian company", the post read.

Buddybuild confirmed the acquisition in a blog post, in which it also confirmed that the buddybuild team would join Apple's Xcode engineering group "to build fantastic developer tools for the entire iOS community". Buddybuild is an app development company that is out of Canada and is still a startup.

The record setting amount spent on the App Store was clearly fueled by games, covering all of the apps Apple chose to highlight in its announcement.

As stated on its official website, Buddybuild essentially helps in faster and efficient development of IOS apps. That being said neither Apple nor Buddybuild has given any specific timeline of when will that happen. "Of the $17 billion generated in Q3 from apps globally (excluding China), Apple accounted for around $11 billion of it, according to App Annie", the report added.

Many Industry experts continue to argued that since IOS is a closed operating system, it won't exactly dominate the app market like Android, which is an open source operating system.

Google is dominating the number of app downloads. It also makes sure that its tools are filled with new features and tools so that they are easier for developers to use.

The move echoes Apple's acquisition of TestFlight back in 2014, which began to require users to employ Xcode to utilize the service. They're both former employees of Amazon. Reportedly, the company has raised a total of $8.8 million in funding. Some of the other clients include Mozilla, Hootsuite, Reddit, SoundCloud, FourSquare and The New York Times. The startup also plans to discontinue the free starter plans and future app developments from March 1, 2018.
