Are you excited about the the first ever women's "Royal Rumble" match?
The encouraging news for WWE female wrestlers was announced by WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon during Monday Night Raw live on USA Network. This is a groundbreaking milestone that ensures the future of the professional wrestling will be great.
-Whether, like the men's match, this will be an over the top battle royal.
The 31st anniversary of WWE's famed Royal Rumble will be a special affair on Sunday, Jan. 28 as the company announced Monday night there will be not one but two versions of the match held at the pay-per-view, the second being contested by female wrestlers.
In recent years, WWE has made women more important as part of their programming.
However, things began to change as a new group of women in NXT, essentially the minor-league system for WWE that constantly puts on better shows than the main roster, began to put people on notice that they weren't going to be second-class citizens any longer.
It's expected Roman Reigns will face Brock Lesnar Universal Title while Shinsuke Nakamura will face AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 34. They've main-evented Raws, competed in the first ever Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match, wrestled the first women's match in the middle east, and that's just in one year!
