Angelina Jolie, Rose McGowan and Gwyneth Paltrow are among the women who have accused Weinstein of sexual assault or harassment, many of which Weinstein has denied.

Jackson said that Miramax, the film company co-founded by the Weinsteins, had told him Sorvino and Judd were "a nightmare to work with and we should avoid them at all costs" when he was considering actors for the "Lord of the Rings" series.

Even though Miramax didn't ultimately produce the films, leaving Jackson free to suggest any casting choices he wished to New Line, Jackson said that the damage had already been done.

Per Priestley's version of events, the young actor was attending a Golden Globes party hosted by Miramax, the production company formerly run by Harvey and his brother Bob Weinstein, when things became heated and he was kicked out. "You just told me to leave... right over there" I tell him once again.

"There it is, confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure", she tweeted.

THE director of Bad Santa has revealed that he was prevented from hiring Mira Sorvino by Harvey Weinstein - amid accusations the disgraced studio head launched a smear campaign against the actress.

"Bad Santa" director Terry Zwigoff also claimed he was interested in casting Sorvino, but that Weinstein would hang up the phone every time he mentioned her name.

The "King Kong" helmer continued, "Nearly 20 years later, we read about the sexual misconduct allegations being made against Harvey Weinstein and we saw comments by both Mira and Ashley, who felt they had been blacklisted by Miramax after rejecting Harvey's sexual advances. They weren't the type of guys I wanted to work with - so I haven't".

Weinstein's spokesperson said on the producer's behalf, "Mr. Weinstein denies speaking with Terry regarding casting".

Sorvino thanked Jackson on Twitter on Friday.

Harvey Weinstein's name still appears in the credits of the Lord of the Rings films for contractual reasons, Jackson told Stuff. "We have no reason to make it up", he added.

"Amongst the many names raised, Fran [Walsh] and I expressed our enthusiasm for Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino".

Judd and Sorvino had earlier claimed they had lost out on films due to Weinstein.
