Woods lives with her mother and her mother's live-in boyfriend on Dawson Cabin Road in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

"[Officials are] working everything that can be worked to find this little girl", said Jacksonville Sheriff Hans Miller.

Long's daughter was born with a shortened leg, so she said she could understand how her child might be mistaken for Mariah, who has difficulty walking without leg braces.

'Please, bring her back. "Just to be able to touch her and hold her and not let her go again".

Officials with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that Woods reported her daughter missing about 6 a.m. Monday and asked anyone with information to contact authorities.

Woods has been described as a white female about 2 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 30 pounds.

Drones and helicopters have been supplementing ground searches.

Sheriff: Search underway for missing 3-year-old girl in Jacksonville

"It is extraordinarily rare for a stranger abduction, someone to come into a residence simply for the sole motivation of taking an infant child", said retired FBI agent Greg Baker, who is not involved in the investigation into Mariah's disappearance. She said her boyfriend saw Mariah around midnight when she got up and he told her to go back to bed. "This is my everything, besides my boys, the love that I have for this girl".

Woods was last seen when her mother put her to bed at about 11 p.m. Sunday, according to the Charlotte Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The child is not Mariah Woods and the woman does not have any connection to the ongoing investigation to find Mariah, they said. Authorities searching for the missing toddler are asking residents to comb through their properties for anything "out of the ordinary" in the hope that someone will come forward with information that leads them to the little girl.

Mariah's mom says she woke up Monday morning and noticed her daughter was missing from her bedroom.

The girl's two older brothers were in the house when Mariah disappeared.

A Jacksonville, North Carolina, woman reported that Mariah Kay Woods was missing from their home sometime early Monday and an Amber Alert was issued for the child. "If you have any information to identify the adult and child in this image, please call the Onslow County Sheriff's Office at 910-455-3113".

Officials emphasized multiple times that investigative details and particulars about the case are not being disclosed at this time and they plan on having another press conference later in the day.
