This morning, OnePlus announced a limited edition of the OnePlus 5T for India in celebration of the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The answer is mostly no, but isn't as black and white as one would expect.
In terms of software, the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition is powered by OxygenOS 4.7 on top of Android 7.1 Nougat, just like the standard OnePlus 5T. The Star Wars partnership for the OnePlus 5T Limited Edition is only in India and a few Nordic regions, OnePlus said, such as Denmark, Finland, and Sweden.
For starters, the specifications remain the same. Powered by the most powerful processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 835 platform, coupled with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, the OnePlus 5T can run many apps in the background without a single second of lag, allowing users to switch between apps easily. Put together, there is enough power in this phone to kick-start a dying star, so to say-if smartphones could do such a thing in the galaxy, that is. OnePlus community members attending the event will be able to experience OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition in person.
But that is that. Except the change in outer design, this limited edition has the same features which are available on regular OnePlus 5T, 128GB variant which was launched at Rs. 37,999 in the month of November compared to the price of Rs. 38,999 of Star Wars Edition. Will people wonder why you have a Star Wars phone when it isn't Star Wars season? It looks gorgeous, but the only problem is that dust tends to stick to it rather easily. The company has also bundled a rugged case with the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition, one that is modelled on Kylo Ren's helmet from the movie.
This red mineral covered planet is the inspiration behind all the red elements on the Star Wars Edition OnePlus 5T.
"Judge me by my size, do you?".
After days of anticipation and hype, OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition has been officially launched in India.
If you are a Star Wars fan, this will be worth your money. This is ordinarily a dark theme that turns the background black with white text, but comes with special red accents for certain elements of the UI. Both rear cameras come with F1.7 lens and have focal length of around 27mm. The second sensor gets activated if the ambient lighting is below a certain threshold, for help with detailing.
Additionally, OnePlus 5T uses an all aluminium body and comes with other features like - Face Unlocking, fingerprint sensor and Dash Charging. During our OnePlus 5T review, we had noted that while low light photos are significantly better than before, most other photos are only marginally better. The company's even tying in these colors with the film, claiming that the former was inspired by the surface of the planet Crait and the latter by the red Star Wars logo.
