Season 4 will be available on Netflix on a Black Friday, December 29th, 2017 to be exact. As Brooker himself put it at a preview event in October, that dynamic has ensured his fans are constantly feeding him story seeds: "I'm immediately alerted to any disgusting development in the world".
"USS Callister" is the previously teased Star Trek-inspired episode that sees Cristin Milioti trying to adjust to her new life aboard a spaceship. From the 1960s hairstyles to the Khan-style villain on a planet that looks like a quarry, the Netflix episode looks like a huge wink towards the classic series. The teaser was shared via the official Black Mirror Twitter account.
- "Crocodile", directed by John Hillcoat (The Road, Lawless) and starring Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Bloodline), Andrew Gower (Outlander), Kiran Sonia Sawar (Murdered By My Father).
Not to worry though, because at least we'll have the Black Mirror to keep us company.
Hang the DJ is about dating in the near future and an app that matches people, telling them exactly how long their relationships will last. "Metalhead" is a black-and-white episode all about being hunted by robot dogs, a la Boston Dynamic's Big Dog.
In the Black Museum, the owner and proprietor promises that "If [an object] did something bad, chances are, it's in here". And obviously he's going to tell some of those sick, sad stories.
Netflix has finally announced a release date for Black Mirror's fourth season, the upcoming show reaching the streaming service on the 29 December. The reasons are usually just creepy ones that say a lot about humanity's inherent failings.
