The likes of John Lewis, Argos and Amazon appear to be either out of stock for the Apple AirPods, or require a set to be reserved for when more stock arrives, and, in the case of Apple's United Kingdom online store, will expect delivery of the £159 headphones in early January. Kuo noted that the new AirPods will incorporate a "smaller quartz component", but didn't provide any other details on what might be expected in the next-generation wireless earbuds. The mat is also anticipated to launch at some point in 2018. A potential release date, however, is new news.
Apple also suffered supply issues a year ago after the AirPods sold out before Christmas. As it stands now, if you're really keen on buying a pair of AirPods before the new year, it seems like your best bet is to go the AT&T route, though you'll have to pony up an extra $14.95 for 2-day shipping.
At £159 the AirPods are some of the cheapest Apple products available, but their popularity has seen a spike in demand which manufacturers are now unable to meet.
There's still a chance you can get AirPods this holiday season.
The current generation of AirPods are in short supply and likely won't be back in stock until January, as Apple struggles to keep up with the demand for their incredibly popular earbuds. Apple, like most smartphone manufacturers, generally sticks to a yearly release schedule when it comes to their new flagships.
